So here we go…
It’s that time of year again. We had set some new years resolutions, or we at least reflected on our life and how we would like it better. I would like to share with you what I have learned after 25 plus years of coaching people in pain relief, wellness, weight loss etc.
Make things easy to do first is number 1!
I have found that most people need to keep about 7 plates spinning in there circus act of life. You can plug in your 7, but most commonly they are (not in any order):
- Health
- Career/Job
- Finances
- Relationships/Social
- Spiritual
- Civic
Todays topic is health.
Health is on top of everyone’s mind, but the reality is that we, as a society, are not very good at accomplishing our goals with this. The proof is in the Pudding (haha). The statistics on lifestyle diseases are going horribly in the wrong direction.
Most people say “Starting Monday I am going to …” and by 72 hours most are off track if they started at all. In fairness to all of us we were no trained in any of this. We went to school all of those years and never really learned true life healthy living skills. Most of were not fortunate enough to have parents either to teach us.
Keeping things simple, I recommend taking your weakest area of the 7 and bump things up a notch or 10. Then keep working on your next weakest link because we are held back by our weakest area. It may be a 3 day project or a 3 month project.
Lets take chronic pain for an example under your health goals. Research, investigate and hire others to help you find the underlying causes and unique solutions for your individual problems. I have faith that there is always a solution for improvement to to every problem. Don’t give up. Reoccurring pain can be mentally and physically draining to you and your lifestyle. What if you were feeling evn 50% better instead of getting worse month after month…It could afford you activities that you enjoy to do or it may give you 3 hours of additional energy in the evening to do more of what you enjoy.
Some key areas to look into for chronic pain relief that I have seen are:
Mental health in regards to pain free expectations (We use SMT equipment and strategies for this).
Anti-inflammatory diet (We use our weight loss plan for this even if someone doesn’t need to lose).
Ergonomics— Divide your day in 1/3s and work on 1 aspect of each of the third. Example night time and sleeping posture can be a 1/4 or 1/3 of your life.
