From a certain town in Florida two men went to battle the #1 stress for men over 50 years old… their health. Each of them had enjoyed the same levels of life’s success, and as far as anyone could judge, were considered successful and living the dream.
One man enjoyed the fruits of a healthy active lifestyle focusing his attention on doing what he liked, hung out with who he liked and drove his favorite car(s) when he wanted while feeling energetic, confident with his high wellness quotient and strong self-image. The other spent his later years in life in fear about his health, feeling tired and spending a lot of his hard-earned money on added sickly medical expenses, lost productivity and failed self-help protocols depleting his finances.
The second man feeling like the “golden years” had set in. Thinking that it was because he was getting older and nothing could be done about. Belly hanging out, losing muscle mass, not as agile and experiencing joint & back pain was just part of getting old he figured. His years felt more rusty than golden.
The one guy seemed to defy the aging process and others assumed it was his genetics. He never seemed to be behind for any prolonged period of time in regard to his health. Being over 50 years old did not cause him to lose his vitality.
The difference in the two men was not a difference genetics or age, but a difference in decision. The first man kept up on his health. He regularly got adjusted, stayed active, and kept his problems small. The other man merely drifted at sea in whichever direction the wind took him, while not making the small decisions weekly. Instead of being the captain, he was merely a wood chip floating at sea at the mercy of the next wave.
The bottom line is that “Living life the hard way (small positive decisions daily) makes for an easy life, and living life the easy way (not choosing the daily harder decisions) makes for a hard life!”
This history of two men continues to be repeated year after year, decade after decade and so follows the numbers of being in pain, overweight, and unable to do the things people love to do. As we age, health becomes our number one stress…are you in charge of your health? Or are you floating at sea?
